Ripple President Monica Long stated that the company does not need public market liquidity to finance its growth, noting that IPOs are often driven by access to capital rather than strategic necessity.
In this case, it is assumed that the company is financially strong enough to remain private, while stable funding and effective acquisitions support growth. Ripple has access to substantial private capital and is able to raise financing on favorable terms.
The decision to retain private status was made amid aggressive business scaling as part of its expansion strategy. In 2025, the company completed four major M&A transactions totaling approximately $4 bln, consistently building a full-scale digital asset infrastructure for corporate and institutional clients.
For example, in November a funding round of $500 mln was completed, with Fortress Investment Group, Citadel Securities, and several cryptocurrency funds among the investors. Long described the deal terms as extremely favorable for Ripple, but declined to specify whether investor protection considerations played a role in achieving the final company valuation of $40 bln.
The acquisitions included:
- Hidden Road — a global prime broker;
- Rail — a stablecoin payments platform;
- GTreasury — a treasury management solutions provider;
- Palisade — a custodial company.
These deals reflect Ripple’s strategy of transitioning from a narrow crypto specialization to a full-fledged infrastructure provider model for financial institutions.
A key element of the Ripple ecosystem is the dollar-backed stablecoin RLUSD, which underpins Ripple Payments and Ripple Prime products. The latter was launched following the acquisition of Hidden Road and is focused on institutional services, including collateralized lending and XRP-related products.
As of November, Ripple Payments had processed over $95 bln in payments, indicating steady growth in demand for cross-border transactions.
Ripple’s core objective is the creation of practical, revenue-generating products that help traditional financial systems integrate blockchain technology.
The IPO Idea Has Lost Relevance
Ripple has discussed a public listing since 2022, but only considered it after the completion of litigation with the SEC. Regulatory uncertainty long blocked any progress in this direction.
Even after the case was closed, the company did not return to active IPO preparations. During this period, Ripple strengthened its financial base, expanded its product lineup, and gained access to large private capital pools, reducing the need to go public.
The decision to abandon an IPO appears logical against the backdrop of broad disappointment in crypto company IPOs in 2025. U.S. IPOs overall underperformed the S&P 500, and many new listings faced sharp corrections.
Market examples:
- Circle — after a strong debut, shares declined noticeably;
- Bullish — prices returned to IPO levels;
- Gemini — one of the worst IPOs of the year, with shares down more than 60%.
This backdrop reduces the attractiveness of public status even for large players.
In 2025, after peaking near $3.66, XRP/USD ended the year approximately 21% lower, indicating a revaluation and correction following a strong rally.
At present, XRP is showing moderate recovery dynamics after the 2025 correction. It is trading in the $2.1–$2.3 range, reflecting market reaction to institutional demand and new investment products.
Mid-term prospects remain mixed, but several reference points can be outlined:
- strong potential for further growth toward $3 and above under favorable demand conditions and sustained institutional interest;
- current trading dynamics indicate resilience above the $2 level, though with possible corrections if interest weakens or crypto market sentiment deteriorates.
However, the absence of an IPO makes XRP less sensitive to short-term speculative pressure, shifting the focus toward Ripple’s business fundamentals.
So we act wisely and avoid unnecessary risks.
Profits to y’all!
